A Day in the Life

Brave Love BlogBlog-tember Challenge prompt: A day in the life. Take us through it with you.

I’m back! Last week I took a break from the Blog-tember Challenge because I went to the Orange Tour Conference and also a film festival that I help put together. It was a busy week and one that needed tons of grace in time and energy. Something had to give and that’s okay.

I tried to vlog at the Orange Tour though, and I wasn’t very successful. It was hard to overcome the self-consciousness. It’s weird walking around with an extended arm and talking to a camera. I managed to get some snippets and I will try to put it all together. That might be a better Day In the Life post than this because my daily life isn’t very exciting. Here’s what happens.

Wake up and use the First 5 & Bible app. I don’t set an alarm unless I have a morning obligation. Being a night owl, I’m a late morning kind of girl so I try not to have morning obligations! I mention using the apps because if I get up right away, I will forget to do devotion or seem to not have time for it. Does that ever happen to you?

Yet even some mornings I forget. Some days, I “run out of time.” If that happens to you, too, here’s my tip. Give yourself grace. God doesn’t really want our 6 am. I’ve had morning devotions that meant nothing because I was half-asleep and halfhearted. I didn’t really spend time with God. I went through the motions. God wants our hearts. God wants quality time with us. That’s what we have to remember.

Get up, get ready, and get online. I work as a freelance writer and Children’s Ministry Director. Work varies, but it’s usually on the computer. I will work at home or at Starbucks and then more work at home. I try to sleep by midnight or 1 am. Sometimes 3 am especially if I pick up a good book. I wasn’t kidding about being a night owl.

Errands and etc. Every week will have a different errand or random thing. Today, I pulled out my jazz shoes and choreographed a dance for Pastor’s Appreciation Day. Now I’m sore. No joke. I haven’t danced jazz and ballet in years, which is why I’m writing this post past 8pm. I’m moving slowly today!

Seasons will also vary my day. When Fall and Winter rolls around, I start knitting. I sell scarves when the chill starts rolling in. Summer I’m usually crafting VBS decorations. I’m learning that whether we live by routine or we live on the fly, we need to live in the grace of God and give ourselves grace as well. What does your day look like?

I'd love to hear from you!
