First Post, New Beginnings

I thought it was fitting to write this first post today. It was my teen brother’s first day of school. It’s when I finished my About page. I even bought a planner (hopefully I use it). It’s a day of new beginnings, even Bible Gateway’s verse of the day speaks perfectly to this new day.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do,” Ephesians 2:10.

With this new blog, I finally feel like I’m using my writing to honor God. And I pray that I encourage and challenge you. I talk about it in my About page, but I thought I knew what God’s calling on my life looked like. But we cannot fathom God’s plans for us because His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. So when He promised us a hopeful and prosperous future (Jer 29:11), it’s hardly anything we can imagine.

Sometimes I get this crippling fear. I look at my life and I feel like I’m stuck. That “this is as good as it’s gonna get,” but it’s not good at all. I haven’t made a difference in anyone’s life. I’m not a contributing part of society. I have my big dreams, but don’t know how to reach them unless I get a meaningless job that I hate and end up resenting my life and those around me until I’m old and bitter and I didn’t even get to have my own family.

Yikes.

path bwHeadcase, right? It’s alright, you can say it. We all have headcase moments from time to time. That’s why it’s important to hold onto God’s love, grace, and promises. He has a plan for your life. Sometimes He’ll give us a big ‘ol calling, a vision, a map. But that’s still a small part of His big picture for your life. It’s still a breadcrumb. God’s got something more in store for you. So get ready. Get excited!

And if all you’re getting right now are tiny breadcrumbs, it’s okay. Follow God’s breadcrumbs. Take it one step of faith at a time. Don’t let those headcase moments bring you down, because they’re just moments. Chalk it up to human weakness and imperfection. Then move on, knowing that God created you for a good purpose and that He will be with you every step of the way.
