God Does Not Wonder About You

I was writing in my prayer journal and asked God if He ever wonders about me, like how parents wonder about their children when they do something not so nice. Like how Sunday school teachers wonder about a usually well-mannered child who suddenly threw a tantrum or seemed to have been exchanged for a doppelganger with an attitude.

I wondered if God ever wondered about me when I mess up. Because I do. I chastise myself because I should know better but I mess up and fall short over and over again. And if I wonder, perhaps He wonders too.

He doesn’t.

In that loving whisper-y way He tenderly calls out to us, He told me that He doesn’t. He doesn’t wonder about me because He knows me. I am His child. He knows my weaknesses. He knows my sins. He also knows what I’m capable of. He knows I can overcome the challenges I face. He knows I can rise above my shortcomings. Through Him and Him alone, I can do all things.

And it made a little bit more sense: Jesus as our Intercessor.

Because He gets it. He gets how hard this life can be. He gets how the world can cut us down right at the knees and kick us so much until we stay down. He understands temptations. He was tempted too. He struggled too. He was back-stabbed. He was cursed at. He was rejected. He felt pain, sadness, and the deepest anguish.

God knows you. He knows who you are at the core. He knows what you struggle with internally and externally. He knows how much you can take and what you cannot. He knows your sins.

He also knows that you can rise above it all. Just as He did. Just as Jesus rose above it all.

Well yeah, you might say, He is God after all. But I’m not God. I’m not a deity.

No, but we do have God the Holy Spirit in us. We do have God on our side. We do have Jesus praying to the Father on our behalf. We are not alone.

God doesn’t ever wonder about us. He knows exactly who we are, and He loves us. Sinful people though we may be, God loves us. Because He created us. We are His. He knows we’re more than our failures. And He believes in us more than anyone.

And if God believes in you, shouldn’t you believe in yourself?

Do you know that you are more than your failures and struggles?

Do you know that you are strong enough with Him?

Do you know that you can overcome every challenge you face?

Do you know that you are not alone?

God doesn't wonder about you because He knows you and loves you.

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west. I will say to the north and south, ‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel form the distant corners of the earth. Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.'” Isaiah 43:1-7 (NLT)

  1. It is so hard for my little human mind to understand the depths of God’s love for me, despite knowing everything about me. I don’t have to understand to feel it though!

    1. Amen! We don’t need to understand God’s love to feel it, and even though we may not feel it at times (maybe when we’re bogged down by worries), He is still right there with us, pouring out His love!

  2. Oh my Angela, this is beautiful! He doesn’t wonder about me because He knows me. Everything about me. Thank you so much for visiting Counting My Blessings this week. I would love it if you would add this to our weekly linkup. I know it will bless others.
