When I was a little girl, my parents would take me to work. I remember going to work with my mom often. I think it’s because she takes me to my doctor appointments (it seemed like I was always visiting the doctor). She had an office and an assistant I stayed with. I played the one game on the big clunky computer that had no mouse or I played with the shoes she stored in a drawer.
My dad had a desk in a bullpen. It was loud and seemed like everyone was always doing something that had to be done quickly. I played with his pens and papers because he was a political speech writer, and he had a lot of nice pens and papers. I might have wasted official stationery. Whoops.
It’s Father’s Day on Sunday and I wanted to share with you two things I learned from my dad.
1. He taught me to be funny. I know how to find humor in stories and conversations, and I didn’t realize it until recently, but I picked that up from my dad.
2. He taught me how to be annoyingly dedicated. He plays the piano or keyboard every. single. day. He loves music. It’s his talent and it’s his ministry. It’s his one thing. I’m learning how to be annoyingly dedicated to writing. To write every single day like it’s water.
This is what I’m giving my dad. It’s right up his funny personality. Shh…don’t tell him.
This dad was there when his son caught his first fish. I love the way he encouraged his son to touch the fish…not so much the fish touching
My dad does not like to travel. If you don’t either or can’t, but would like to see the Seven Wonders of the World, you can see them here in 360 degree panoramas. Complete with other tourists.
And speaking of dads, the seven wonders, and pianos, you have heard of The Piano Guys, right? I saw them in concert and was blown away.
May your weekend be a blessed one with your father or father-figures, but especially with the Heavenly Father who loves you!
