Step One: Return to the One

31-days-of-faith-selfcare

Scripture Text: Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Jesus said this)

Let’s stop for a moment and breathe. Close your eyes, inhale to your lung’s capacity, gather the storms surrounding you, and exhale them all out.

The first step to selfcare is to return to the One who is Love personified. To the One who is Care, who is Rest, who is Peace. God calls us to take refuge in Him. He wants to take our burdens and give us rest.

Isn’t it wonderful that part of living in faith is living in the grace of God where we find peace and rest?

Today we practice selfcare by spending time with God. Let us refresh our souls and spirits. Let’s run to the Father. Take a few moments to pray and listen to worship songs (like the one below). Quiet your minds. Really listen to the lyrics and turn them into a prayer.

Worship Song: Rest In You by Hillsong

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I find rest in You. Your grace is all I need. I am weary and burdened. I run into Your arms. I run into Your embrace. Take my yoke and let me take Yours, easy and light. I lay down the grief in my heart. I release the stress in my life. You are my refuge, my strength. You are my rest, my peace. Thank You for Your faithfulness. My love for You grows and I will continue to seek You all the days of my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
