My first thought at turning 39 years old was that I’m almost 40. And I realized that’s a shame, because 39 is still its own year. It’s not a holding period. It’s not a doctor’s waiting room. It is its own year that will have its own adventures. My One Word for 2024, my 39th year, is radiate.
Radiate is from the NLT version of Psalm 37:3-7b:
“Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.”
To radiate is to emit energy, heat, or light; to project or glow with cheerfulness, joy, etc.; to spread out in all directions from a central point (definitions from multiple dictionaries; Google it).
This year, I want to radiate. I want to trust God as I do: do write, do ministry, do life. Trust God with everything I do. Trust God to help me. Trust God to make me radiate and shine. Trust Him like an innocent child trusts their parent to take care of them.
