Happy June! How did your summer begin? I know, it’s not official yet, but vacation is in high gear. We held our Summer Family Night recently where the families created a bucket list. They decorated a big plastic tumbler and wrote activities they can do together on wooden craft sticks.
I took the inspiration from bucket list printables populating Pinterest like this free fillable How to Summer from You Are My Fave, this free printable created by Raising Seraphim for toddlers but works for any age, or this one from The Busy Budgeter with cheap and more action-y activities. It’s got me thinking. What are your summer goals? What would be in your summer bucket list?
I’m still narrowing mine down, but here’s a few: read Jane Austen, picnic at a park, and balloon painting.
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is my pick for the “a book that intimidates you” category of Modern Mrs. Darcy’s 2016 Reading Challenge. I adore the characters and I love the movie version with Keira Knightley and other modernized retelling like “Austenland,” “Unleashing Mr. Darcy,” and “Lost in Austen.” If you’re looking for summer flicks, try those! But I’ve never finished the book. It’s a hard read, I gotta say. I’ve tried several times to read it but it’s beaten me up. Maybe now that I’m older, I can give it another go.
Also on my reading list are: Quiet by Susan Cain, Pray-ers Bear Fruit by Kathy R. Green, Extravagant Worship by Darlene Zschech, and Looking for Lovely by Annie F. Downs. Also, The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. I borrowed it from the library, but didn’t get to finish it. I couldn’t even renew it because it was on hold by another patron. Oh well. I’m looking for other fiction books to read. Any recommendations?
Other summer goals I’m putting together with my friends are: fruit picking, go to high tea, make candles, surprise silly string attack…okay, that last one’s my idea!
I compiled some of the activities our kids and parents came up with for their bucket list and made a free printable for you 🙂 Here’s the pdf you can print out: summer bucket list.
And here’s the Earth breathing. I know that seemed to come out of nowhere but this is too mesmerizing not to share!
Have you heard of Roam, a co-living concept, that I find intriguing. It’s certainly not for everyone. What do you think? Could it be for you?
