Blog-tember Challenge prompt: What are you up to currently?
Today, specifically, I’m attending a church meeting/training. In general, here’s what I’m up to.
On the blog
I’m obviously participating in the Blog-tember Challenge, and I’m enjoying it! Next month, I’ll be participating in the Write 31 Days challenge, and in November, I’m participating in NaNoWriMo. In December, I’ll hibernate! đ
In the ministry
This is our year of transition into family ministry or a family ministry model. I’m still learning and figuring out how family ministry would look like at our church. I’m attending the Orange Tour conference in Irvine and I’m excited. It’s the first 2-day Orange Tour and I’m ready to soak it all in, get fired up, and bring back tools and resources we could use.
At the beginning of this year, I said I would write updates about our transition. I don’t think I’ve done that well enough, but it’s also because we haven’t had many physical changes. I wanted a year to transition and I had a vision that by next year, we have a smoothly running family ministry. I don’t think that will be the case. The biggest transition happening right now is with the hearts of the people.
We are working on setting up our nursery area and the family resource shelf. We’re also looking for new chairs and tables for all our Sunday school classes. If you know where we can get a great deal, please let me know!
I have also laid out an overview for next year. It needs to be flushed out and prayed over, but I’m positive of where God is leading us.
I’m reading
The books on my Summer Reading List. Summer ends on the 22nd! I have time! But sadly, I’m saying goodbye to The Lutheran Ladiesâ Circle: Plucking One String by Kris Knorr, which was on the list. I started reading it a few nights ago and couldn’t go on because the transitions between the chapters were too disconnected and confusing as it jumped from one character to another without much difference in voice. It had a lot of promise to be very funny, but it wasn’t for me.
John Irving said, “Grown-ups shouldn’t finish books they’re not enjoying.” Thank you to Modern Mrs. Darcy for sharing that quote because it gave me to permission to move on.
The good news is that I have more time to read Do Over by Jon Acuff and The Orange Leader Handbook by Reggie Joiner. I might or might not be hauling these with me at Orange Tour in hopes of getting them signed!
I’m watching
“Rizzoli & Isles” is my favorite show right now. Later this month, I’m looking forward to the return of Fall shows and the premier of “Minority Report” and “Heroes Reborn.”
And that’s what I’m up to currently. What about you? What are you up to?
